A GENEROUS donation from the Alexandra Hospital League of Friends has made possible a much needed refurbishment of the hospital reception area. The main entrance is being 'remodelled' and a space created that recognises the important contribution the League has made over many years, a space they intend to use to provide an information service and small shop for patients, visitors and staff. Hospital bosses say the refurbishment takes into account the physical needs of patients and visitors, all of whom will benefit from the improved seating arrangements. Extending the porch and fitting new doors on either side will ensure the area is warm, comfortable and pleasant to use. "The League of Friends has provided enormous support over many years. Since the hospital opened they have made donations of more than £3million and this has made a big difference to the staff and patients at the hospital." During the work, kerbside parking along the road leading to the west entrance will be removed to accommodate safe two-way traffic flows. There will also be limited disabled parking available at the west entrance for patients and visitors and temporary signs will explain the changes. redditchstandard.co.uk
