A MAN was subjected to a racially aggravated assault in a Redditch underpass in the early hours of Sunday (February 7).
The victim, of Eastern European origin, was racially abused by a man who punched him to the floor, kicked him and stole his cigarettes and cash.

The attack started as the victim walked through an underpass between Beoley Road West to Beoley Road East, under Holloway Drive, at 1.30am.
Police are now trying to trace the attacker who is described as a white male, around 5ft 7ins tall with a medium build and short, light brown hair.
He was clean shaven and wearing denim jeans and a jacket with a multi-coloured section at the front and the hood worn down. He was also smoking a cigarette at the time of the incident.

PC Andy Herlihy from Redditch police said: “This was a racially motivated attack that left the victim with cuts and bruising to his face and body and it’s important we identify the offender.

“If you witnessed the assault or saw a male of this description in the Beoley Road area in the early hours of Sunday morning, please pass this on to police as soon as you can."
PC Herilhy added the offender was seen a short while after the incident walking along Sillins Avenue, talking on a mobile phone, and then headed into an alleyway situated almost opposite Sandon Close.
